Sobre este artículo

Amstelaedami [Amsterdam], Apud Rod. &: Gerh. Wetstenios &, 1728. 4to. pp. [xxiv], 715, [i], 239, [i]. With copper engraved frontispiece, letterpress title printed in red and black with engraved vignette, light waterstainging in upper margin towards end of the volume. Contemporary Dutch vellum, gilt, a little soiled and with one or two ink stains, but sound. 1755 prize inscription to one Johannes Henricus van Hassels on front free endpaper. Bentley’s Horace was first printed in Cambridge in 1711, but the Amsterdam editons - laid out with text and notes on the same page and with a revised version of Tretur’s index - are considered superior. This is one of the best editions of the most outstanding achievement of Britain’s foremost (and most controversial) classical scholar of the eighteenth-century. Dibdin, Introduction to rare and valuable editions of the Greek and Latin classics, II, 101; Brunet, Manuel du Libraire et de l’Amateur de Livres, III, 319. Book
