Originally published in 1972. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for 1973. With green moire silk endpapers, gold-gilt cover designs and page edges, and bound-in silk bookmark. This is a moving novel of a young woman who returns to New Orleans after several years of absence when her father is dying. After he dies, the young woman returns to the small town of her childhood with her stepmother and gains deeper understandings of her life through the experience. Born in 1909, Eudora Welty died in 2001. A revered writer, this book is considered her masterpiece. A lovely copy.
