Washington D. C.: U. S. Government, 1918. Document dated May 20, 1918, appointing Neil W. Avery Postmaster at Greenville, New York. The document is SIGNED by both Woodrow Wilson, and Postmaster General Albert S. Burleson, the first Texan in the Cabinet and the man responsible for racial segregation of the U. S. Postal Service. In spite os his support for segregation and other racist policies, Wilson is consistently rated by historians as one of the "near great" U. S. Presidents, in large part because of his historical vision as advocate for the League of Nations. Both signatures are guaranteed to be authentic. The document is suitable for framing--clean and attractive, with 4 vertical fold lines . The gold seal is intact, though crossed by one fold line.. SIGNED. First Edition. Paper. Very Good. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Manuscript.
