ORIGINAL Lux (Washing Preparation) 'Won't Shrink Wool' Advert (Circa. 1912).

An ORIGINAL c. 1912 Edwardian Full Colour loose leaf Advertisement for LUX SOAP - formerly tipped into an old book - measuring 5.5" high x 4.5" wide. The illustration in Full Vibrant colour is of a little lamb and a little girl holding Lux soap whilst gazing at a washing line in the distance and with a 'Lux Won't Shrink Wool' sign in the background. On the Reverse is Text Advertising Lux Soap = " Don't let your Woollens Shrink! ..... Besides preventing Blankets, Flannels, and Woollens from shrinking, it is a delightful cleansing agent for all things......" etc, etc. Lever, and many other firms, commissioned many now important artists to Advertise their wares for them in this way. This particular Advert is Unsigned but smacks of John Hassall or Will Owen who did many of these adverts for Lever in this period - and, as nowadays, these adverts were inserted into reading materials to reach the masses. The few that have survived tend to be in VG condition as they were kept enclosed in the books/magazines. This copy is Very Good but is slightly torn to the left edge where the advert has been removed from a book. There are very light brown smudge marks to the rear side, otherwise this is a Clean and VERY Bright Copy. An Absolutely Delightful Period piece of its time! . All these ads look great framed.
