Vol. I; 553 pages, Voll II; 475 and Vol. III; 476-979, illustrations, bibliographic references. The essential guide to the earliest written in hand of the book of Mormon. The original manuscript was written down as dictated by the Prophet Joseph Smith. In 1841 it was placed in the cornerstone of the Nauvoo House where most of its contents were destroyed by mold and seepage. The surviving fragments which represent 28 percent of the original text are in the historical archives of The Church of the Latter-day Saints. In addition, the printer's manuscript is virtually complete and is held in the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saints in Independence, Missouri. The two volumes of the earliest printed copies bring the reader the closest to the text since if provides the printer's earliest copies. At times early printings would include different spellings, miswriting's, erasures, and scribal insertions. The volumes also include color and black and white ultraviolent photographs of some of the manuscript pages and fragments. These three volumes comprise the most important look at the earliest ways early Mormons saw their sacred writing. This set is essential to any serious student of the Book of Mormon and because of its thorough scholarship is now studied by those in all religious traditions.
