London: Crime Club / Collins, 1955. This painting on artboard was created and signed by William Randell for the First British Edition of this classic Nero Wolfe mystery novel written by Rex Stout. The painting, itself, measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide by 10 inches tall, matted to an overall size of 12 inches wide by 14 inches tall. Book is very good in dust jacket. Of the Nero Wolfe dust jackets, this is a superior one in that it actually depicts both Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin, which was rarely the case with the Rex Stout books published during his lifetime. The great detective with Goodwin brandishing a gun are depicted in red with a black background with white lettering. In the accompanying book the figure are printed in a light blue color.
