Quarto contemporary calf blind ruled on 4 raised bands (hinges cracked but held by cords/repaired to top & bottom compartment of spine & lower board & corners) Titlepage +[32] +619pp +publisher's booklist (TP+A2+(a-d4)+B-Iiii4). Titlepage edge browned, with signature of Edwd. Shand 1729. A few signs of use ie. small spots/corner creases here & there but no tears, no underlining or marginalia and having good wide margins and strong and supple paper. *Biblical truth asserted from historical sources and especially to show that the Christian faith was established in Britain before the Papal Catholic missions of St.Augustine and as these were a much later development so that the Pope had no historic authority in Britain. It claimed a proper independence of the Christian Church in Britain directly from the foundation by the apostle, St.Paul.
