Author Andre Gide here set down his personal memories of his friend and fellow writer, Irish poet Oscar Wilde, and he first wrote them circa 1900. Gide's personal sketches he wrote at the turn of the century, clarifying who Wilde was at the prime of his life. Prison and public condemnation made Wilde a weakened and broken person.
