Limited, in association with Chanticleer Press Incorporated, New York, 1948. Cloth slightly bumped, with the rear cover slightly marked and bowed; endpapers offset; first and last leaf foxed, with scattered light foxing elsewhere (but confined mainly to the preliminaries); a very good copy with the very good dustwrapper a little marked, rubbed and slightly chipped. The lithographs are in fine condition, protected on each side by the original tissue-guards. The book was issued in conjunction with Kokoschka's first American exhibition, organized by the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. The colophon states that 'Of this edition of 2,000 copies, 200 numbered copies have been specially bound and the lithographs have been signed by the Artist. This is number 168'. The monochrome lithographs, bound in between pages 24 and 25, are signed in pencil, as issued.
