Sobre este artículo
New York: Basic Books, 2002. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Fine/Fine Jacket. A history of New York's Fire Department, from the volunteers of colonial times and the 'fire laddies' who raced each other to fires in the 1840s, through the professional corps set up in the 1860s, to the highly trained force of modern times. Interweaves the stories of real life characters, famous and unknown, with the dramatic history of a city on the rise. Golway writes in a very accessable style that draws the reader into the intimate world of the FDNY, especially in his narrative of 9/11 and its aftermath. A fascinating read for anyone interested in fire-fighting. Contains 368 pages and numerous b&w photos. Grey boards with black quarter-binding in Fine illustrated dust jacket. Internally, shows small ink mark on bottom edge, otherwise Fine: clean and unmarked in excellent bindings. Looks, feels and smells like new.
