This is a readable scholarly on the fur trade system from the Pacific Northwest to China and then to Europe and America in the late 1700's and 1800's. Gibson is a professor that has focused on geography and the Pacific Northwest discovery and development. This book adds to the previous works on the global trade developed in the late 1700's from journals and other sources related to Russian, Spanish, British, as well as American trade. This book is one of the six in the McGill-Queen's Native and Northern Series editied by Bruce Trigger.
