Sobre este artículo
Pensacola, FL: William M. Terry (1st Edition, 2009). Hardcover, 258 pages. No dust jacket issued. Clean and unmarked, with a square, tight binding. A very nice copy!
ABOUT THE BOOK: Land has been a family name in America for a very long time. Although we have not connected this line of Lands to the earliest Lands in the new world (ca. 1639), we have traced this line to the colonial period in Virginia, less than 100 years later. Thomas Land (ca. 1722, Augusta County, Virginia) is the first of this direct line who has been proven.
The book format shows the Lands in this family's direct line in cascading generations beginning with Thomas representing the oldest proven generation as Number 1, and continuing through to Number 10, where the youngest members of the clan are named.
SOURCES: Primary source documents including land records, court documents, military and cemetery records. Other data are from historical accounts in books, genealogical journals and newspaper clippings. Included are summaries of conversations with individuals and family stories handed down by word of mouth. Copies of some documents are included. We traveled to do original research from Florida to Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., Indiana, and Utah. Many of the records may be found in the archives of these states. Perhaps the most are in the archives at Columbia, South Carolina and the Florida archives in Tallahassee.
