First Edition (1970), unstated, in accordance with University of Chicago Press' customary practice at the time of publication. Volume 1 Very Good+ in Very Good DJ and Volume 2 Very Near Fine in Very Good DJ: Volume 1 shows a former owner's bookplate affixed to the front pastedown endpaper; slight spine lean; light shelving wear to the lower extremities and with a small shelf stain at the outside edge of the bottom of the text block; else flawless; the binding is secure; the text is clean. Free of any creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. A handsome copy, structurally and and tightly bound, showing mild wear and minor flaws. Bright and clean. Corners sharp. The DJ shows some wrinkles and creases to the inside front flap and a small snag at the bottom edge of the rear panel. Attractive and intact. Clean, but showing some unobtrusive flaws. Volume 2 shows only a bit of dusting and soiling to the top edge of the text block and a tiny flaw in the cloth at the lower corner of the front panel; else flawless; the binding square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of any underlining, hi-lighting or marginalia or marks in the text. Free of ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, or labels. A handsome, nearly-new volume, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing a couple minor, unobtrusive flaws. Bright and clean. Corners sharp. Very close to 'As New'. The Volume 2 DJ shows some short closed tears along the top edge which have been tape-repaired and some wrinkles and creases to the inside flaps. Attractive and intact, but not without flaw.
