With sixteen coloured plates, and hundred of illustrations in the text. Originally a science teacher, William Furneaux turned his passion for natural history into a series of written works. His debut volume 'The Out-Door World' was first published in 1894. Its release marked the start of Furneaux's success throughout the 1890s and into the start of the 20th century. Exploring the natural history of the English country side, he works included discussion of insects, pond life, flora and fauna, and wear each profusely illustrated throughout. Expertly rebacked in cloth with original green calf preserved. Externally, sound, though with some rubbing. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, though with some scattered instances of foxing. Ink sketch to frontispiece tissue-guard. Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
