Tiny rubber-stamp at upper front endpaper reading "Dept. of School Libraries," hint of a forward lean, else bright and fresh, with the topstain unfaded; Near Fine. Dustjacket is clipped at upper front flap, with lower corner priced $3.77, and publisher's gold "Library Binding" sticker across base of spine and lower front panel; gentle sunning to spine and front panel, modest wear to extremities, two small bruises to rear panel, a few tiny nicks, tears, and attendant creases, with a few faint, shallow dampstains to base of spine and lower front flap fold, causing some mild waviness to lower front panel; Very Good. Hinton's first book, written largely while she was still in high school, centered around the lives of two rival teenage gangs in mid-1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma. A significant young adult novel, widely-read by middle school students (and widely-contested due to the contents).
