Lawrence, possibly a journalist and labor activist from Flint, Michigan. This is likely a fictional account of the experiences of Harry Limbert, of Detroit. In 1916 he volunteered to serve in Canadian forces during World War I. Limbert served with the Canadian Royal Engineers at Vimy Ridge, where he was wounded. After time in an English hospital, he returned to France, but was later returned to Canada, suffering from shell shock. In the summer of 1918 he was discharged from the Canadian Army so he could return to Detroit and join the American Army. No marks in book, binding tight. Covers show light soiling.
