Paris: Galerie Lutétia, 1920. Limited Edition. GUINEGAULT, G. P.. A fine example of the pochoir printing technique fashionable in France from 1910-1930. Each of the four poems is accompanied by a circular illustration by G. P. Guinegault. [Not in Mahè.]. Four leaves measuring 350 x 225 mm, in original pochoir decorated wrappers, signed in plate, a fine copy. An exquisite limited edition of romantic poems by Jean Noury illustrated with elegant pochoir scenes by the French orientalist painter, George-Pierre Guinegault. Each leaf is shared between the letterpress poem and a large circular stencil-printed illustration of lovers at play. This beautifully preserved item is a one of five hundred numbered copies printed on Arches paper. Georges-Pierre Guinegault, born on March 27, 1893, in Rennes, France, was an accomplished artist who began his fine art studies at the age of 19 at l'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He started exhibiting his works at the Paris salons in 1920 and later became a member of the…

New York: The American Spectator Publishing Company, 1933. Newspaper, 8.75 x 11.25 inches. Folded newsprint with expected toning and brittle folds, but largely free of material chips and tears. Each issue includes the original wrap-around band. Near-fine.. An excellent collection of the first seven issues of The American Spectator founded by George Jean Nathan, Eugene O'Neill, Ernest Boyd, Theodore Dreiser, and James Branch in 1932 to publish original literary and opinion pieces from distinguished American and European writers. Not to be confused with the conservative magazine of the same name, The American Spectator set out to advance original fiction, opinion, and literary criticism by inviting each contributor to direct and self-edit their own articles, and it further set itself apart by refusing to sell advertising space in its pages. The first issue sold for fifty cents (which was then a rather high price for newsprint) and sold out, prompting an additional print-run of twenty thousand copies,…

New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Cohen explores themes that would permeate his later work, from shame and unworthiness to sexual desire in all its sacred and profane dimensions to longing, whether for love, family, freedom, or transcendence. Trumansburg, NY: Out of Step Press. Fine with no dust jacket. 2016. Numbered Edition; First Printing. Pamphlet. The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows

It's a thought experiment: if we tore down the barracks at military hospitals and offered incentives for Americans in the surrounding neighborhoods to quarter injured service members, what would the honest instructions…
