The Overstory is the 2020 Winner of the William Dean Howells Medal. Richard Powers was the Recipient of a 1989 MacArthur Genius Grant. He is a Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. 1999 Recipient of a Lannan Literary Award. The Goldbug Variations was Times Magazine's Book of the Year in 1991. The Echo Maker won the 2006 National Book Award for Fiction, and was a Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Orfeo was Nominated for the National Book Award and the Booker Prize.
