Davies, (from T. H. D.)'. Ernest Salter Davies was a Welsh teacher and educationalist, known for being the director of education in Kent from 1918 to 1938. He held a great influence into the development of education in the first half of the twentieth century across England. He won a scholarship in classics to Jesus College in Oxford before 1895. The 'T. H. D.' giver of this book is likely Ernest's father, Thomas Davies, who was a Baptist clergyman.Twenty-two pages of adverts to the rear. In the original publisher's cloth binding.
