"Built in large numbers from 1938 at a number of factories, the Airspeed Oxford was a successful military training aircraft, remaining in RAF service in decreasing numbers until 1956. Although by no means as long-lasting as the similar Avro Anson, the Oxford was equally versatile, its probable drawback being that it was constructed of glued timber components, the glue used not of course being of the high specification available today" - from the Introduction.
