Uruguay on its way to Manilla from San Francisco shortly after World War II ended. About the S.S. Uruguay from Troopships of World War II, by Roland W. Charles (1947): "Operated prior to and during World War II by Moore-McCormack Lines, Inc. The Uruguay was allocated to the Army in late January 1942 for use as a troopship. Her war service was as varied as any other allocated vessel and was surpassed in the number of voyages by very few other ships.".
