As to the origin of the manuscript ... there has been a persistent tradition that its author was John Rous ... there is very little to connect it with Rous, and ... while we may hesitate to accept him as the author even of the text, we have no hesitation whatever in pronouncing the drawings not to be his handiwork at all."- Introduction. Barker comments: "The Pageants of Richard Beauchamp, presented to the Club by the Earl of Carysfort in 1908, represents another turning point in the history of the Club. It was printed, both the text and the admirable sanguigno collotypes, by the Oxford University Press, and it inaugurated associations with both the Oxford and Cambridge university presses that were to continue throughout the century. We specialize chiefly in "books about books", the emphasis being on historical aspects of book collecting, production and distribution. A particular speciality is in bibliographies, of all subjects of interest to collectors, dealers and scholars, with several thousand bibliography titles in stock. Other strengths include extensive holdings of auction catalogues for book sales and a good selction of reference material on and facsimiles of illuminated manuscripts. We also have a special interest in rare material by or about Rudyard Kipling.
