Illustrated with portraits of well-known 20th-century painters. Both volumes bound in publisher's original blue cloth with spine stamped in gilt. Spine of Volume 1 has a decorative motif in black, while the spine of Volume 2 has a decorative motif in red. Spines are lightly sun faded. 10 x 8 1/2 inches. 969 pages.
