Folio, 40 x 30 cm. 172 pages in text, and separate plate volume of 36 full-page illustrations printed recto only: collotypes (some tinted), black and white lithographs, photographs and prints, including illuminated books and manuscripts, books of hours, castles. palaces and other specimens. The author. a prominent architect for the City of Paris, professor of general history of architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris (1891-1916), and responsible with Joseph-Louis Duc for the construction of the Palais de Justice in Paris. Extensive Glossary. Text and plates clean, marginal dampstains to last few leaves of plates at lower margin not affecting images. Raised bands, red leather spine labels printed in gilt, marbled endpapers, moderate corner and extremity wear.
