Sobre este artículo
New York: Richard R. Smith, 1939. Hardcover. viii, 217p., first edition, very good condition in the original cloth binding, many unopened pages, number in grease pencil on free front endpaper. The retired pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church, succeeded by his son Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., details his trip to the middle east in the book's first five chapters,, and discusses the types of ministers - fundamentalist, modernists and progressives - and the importance of the social gospel which he himself espouses. Powell was an early leader of the NAACP and National Urban League, and he promoted the notion of an institutional church that offered social as well as spiritual services to the community.
