Sobre este artículo
London: George Bell and Sons , 1894-7. Cloth. Very Good. 8" by 6.5". P. H. Calderon; W Holman Hunt; Otto Speckter; et al. . A later impression of this illustrated first and second series Victorian children's educational work concerning science and religion. A charming Victorian children's book by Margaret Gatty, the first and second series in one volume as issued, in the original publisher's full cloth binding. Both later impressions. In this volume, the author utilises a mixture of enjoyable children's tales and her own scientific curiosity to argue against Charles Darwin's Origin of Species. In the usual Victorian fashion, Gatty utilise God and nature to influence children with moral tales for a religious upbringing. Decorated throughout with illustrations of folk and fairy tales by various artists. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally generally smart with minor shelf wear and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities, light soiling to the boards and touch of darkening to the spine. Internally, the hinges are slightly strained, holding firm, the volume firmly bound. Light spotting to the fore edge, affecting only the first and last few leaves; otherwise, the pages are generally bright and clean throughout. With illustrations of fairy and folk tales by various artists. Very Good
