John Koenig Jr's attractive Dr. Johnson bookplate ('Sir, a desire of knowledge is the natural feeling of mankind.') to front pastedown; 1935 note in ink to front flyleaf; some offsetting to pp. 15 and 89. Gutter cracked at rear, in the midst of advertisements. Jacket heavily toned at spine panel, with light edgewear and a touch of soiling. Binding square and otherwise sound. Text otherwise unmarked.. 16mo. 4.375 x 6.625 in. xvi, 330 pp. + adverts. Toledano Binding Style No. 7 in chocolate brown balloon cloth, Kent torchbearer device in gilt to upper cover, titled in gilt on spine; orange Kent endpapers; publisher's orange-banded typographic dust jacket, with 225 titles advertised on verso.
