Text is illustrated with copious black and white photographs and 8 maps [1 double-paged]. Photographic front cover, showing montage of photographs from early 1950s, with black background with white writing on the front panel and spine. Rubbing to the book corners and to the head and heel of the spine. 'Greying' to the book panels. On the front endpapers there is a mark, that runs the full length of the pages, caused by moisture. The internal pages are slightly affected by this as well. History of the Vietnam war, when the American troops took over from the French in 1954.
