Uncommon first US edition. John Angell James (1785 - 1859) was an English Non-conformist clergyman of Congregational faith, his doctrine moderate Calvinism. He was a prolific author of religious texts and keenly involved in missionary endeavours and a supporter of the London Missionary Society.
