"The Congress of the Confederate States of America do enact, That a bounty of fifty dollars be and the same is hereby granted to all Privates, Musicians and Non-commissioned Officers in the Provisional Army, who shall serve continuously for three years, or for the war."

Attorney General George Davis recommends "a more general distribution of the laws" and appends the 'Report of the Superintendent of Public Printing...Oct. 26, 1864', on the costs of doing so. [Raleigh, 1862. 8pp. 24mo. Self-wrappers. Minor toning, else fine. Noted as "No. 115" above the caption title, this pamphlet was apparently one of a series of religious allegorical publications. The General Tract Agency was perhaps the earliest Confederate tract publisher during the Civil War, established in mid-1861 by an interdenominational group in Raleigh. PARRISH & WILLINGHAM 8756. Old folds, lightly browned & foxed, tiny losses at fold intersects, brief youthful scribblings in ink & pencil in the margins, old ink signature in the top margin of page one & small rubber stamped mark in the bottom margin of page one, otherwise very good.
Contents include: Military Forces of the State;Federal Account of the Partial Destruction of Harper's Ferry; $20 Reward for Deserters from Company A; Strasburg Extension; Head Quarters Department of Northern Virginia, General Orders

Richmond: Daily Dispatch, 1865. Paperback. Folio. Self-cover. 4pp. Good only. Age toned and somewhat soiled, with a couple of centerfold edge tears. Overall quite respectable looking, though, with no edge chips. Decent full issue of this Confederate newspaper from the capital, dated several months prior to the Confederate government's evacuation in early April and the subsequent burning and occupation by Union troops. Typical late war news. Some wear issues, but easily legible and quite "handleable" -- very uncommon in any condition. Southern newspapers were generally printed on inferior quality paper, hence usually exhibit more age toning than their Northern counterparts.

Montgomery, 1861.. 64,[4],xcvi pp. Original printed wrappers. Front wrap detached, slightly chipped. Moderate foxing and tanning. Good. A Confederate imprint. This booklet reports on the annual meeting of this lodge of Masons, with an appendix printing correspondence from other lodges all around the country. Most of the content is quite insular to the Masonic order and dates from 1859 and 1860, and Northern lodges are not differentiated from Southern lodges in any meaningful way in the proceedings. That said, there are certainly allusions to the larger political situation in the country. For example, the South Carolina grand lodge suggests the creation of a "Southern Congress," bringing together the Grand Masters of only the Southern states to make their own decisions, and the Grand Master of the Alabama grand lodge suggests that they "consent to the admission of no person into our mystic brotherhood, however intelligent he might be, however good his intentions, however irreproachable as to his moral… Leer más

[Natchitoches, La.: Natchitoches Union Print, 1865. Broadside, approximately 4 3/4 x 7 1/2 inches. Closely trimmed in left margin, with slight loss to type. Tiny closed tear, affecting a few characters of text, but with no loss. Very good. A blank Confederate requisition form for "Forage for Public Horses, Mules and Oxen," to be filed with Capt. J.W.
