Framingham, Massachusetts: Old America Company Publishers for the Massachusetts Bay Colony Tercentenary Commission, 1930 Hard cover, 4to ( 7 x 10 inches), in light blue cloth, with Massachusetts seal and title in gold to front, and titles to spine, top edge gilt, First edition, (xx), 212pp. Condition: Very Good Plus. A few small spots of discoloration to the exterior. Very light rubbing at head and foot of spine. Gilt bright, pages are tight, clean and very lightly toned. The Massachusetts Tercentenary Commission (1630-1930) presented this panorama of Massachusetts historical houses, portraits and cultural artifacts including domestic furniture and silver, accompanied by brief biographies. Many black and white photographs are reproduced, a number of them credited to Wallace Nutting, (1861-1941) the Massachusetts minister, antiquarian and photographer who published many books on colonial life in the Bay State. (The publishing company of this volume was owned by him.) Samuel Eliot Morison, Harvard historian, wrote the introduction. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus. Illus. by [Wallace Nutting--photographs].
