A price GUIDE is just that: a guide, so that you, the collector, can see what area the value of the doll is placed in. You may pay less, thereby getting a bargain, or pay higher and still be getting a good deal, as the doll may be an exceptional example in some way. Items on any doll that affect its value are the materials of which it is made and the condition of those materials: excellent bisque, unlined (crazed) composition and unmarked vinyl or plastic. The hair must be original with bisque (or quality replaced wig), composition and hard plastics. Vinyl dolls must have un-cut hair. The clothes should be original (rare in bisque dolls), and if not original, the clothes should at least be in the style and materials of the age of the doll. This book is divided between 'antique' and 'modern' by secion, with the antique section first, followed by the modern section. Although, to be an antique, an item has to be 100 years old, and unless made before 1880, it is not a true antique, the author has grouped the dolls witth a year breaking point of the 1920s.; 8-1/2" Tall; 290 pages.
