An omnibus edition collecting three of James' first four novels ("Cover Her Face," (1962), "A Mind To Murder," (1963), and "Shroud for a Nightingale," (1971), with an introduction by the author. First printing, first American edition. About 6 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches, 760 pages in dark blue, paper-covered boards with silver lettering on spine. Front panel of dustjacket shows woman's hand resting on a small overnight case beside an open prescription container with pills scattered on top of the case, as well as a small, decorated box and a candlestick holder, all against a blue background with white and yellow lettering. Dj's back panel is identical to the front. The front pastedown shows an rough area where an address sticker may have been carefully removed (no hole or tearing) and the back pastedown contains small name & address sticker of previous owner. O/w boards and text are clean, complete and unmarked, without any other noticeable damage or flaws. Binding is tight, hinges intact. Dustjacket shows some minimal edgewear and one small spot of chipping. No major tears, creasing or bumping. Not price-clipped. A very decent reading copy of these early James' works, James wrote 14 novels featuring Dalgliesh, her policeman-poet.
