This volume of folklore, winner of the 1938 Newbury Honor Award, is written for young readers by educator James Cloyd Bowman (1880 - 1961), who says, "Pecos Bill is a gentleman at heart, and directs his course by the commonsense, homely virtues of the Frontier. He represents the best and most characteristic broad humor of America." Illustrations, w/6 full-color plates, by artist Laura Bannon (1895 - 1963).
