The book is wholly Australian from the opening chapter relating to the caravan journey across the continent to the final chapter on the care of the aged Pekingese as applicable to Australian conditions. Following introductory chapters, the book covers the history of the breed in NSW, Vic, SA, Qld, WA and in NZ, showing, grooming, breeding, selecting and rearing a puppy, general care, ailments, care of the dogs during the Australian summer, and anecdotes..
