A book of charming verse, poetry, and music intended for children. Including short verses like 'The Pelican Chorus', 'The Daddy Long-Legs and the Fly', 'The Two Old Bachelors', and more. Written by noted English author Edward Lear, known for his silly poetry, limericks, and verses. Illustrated by notable British artist Leonard Leslie Brooke, known for illustrating The Golden Goose (1967), Johnny Crow's Party (1903) and more. This copy came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. In the original quarter cloth binding with pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, smart, with some fading to the boards and bumping to the extremities. Previous bookseller's plate to the front pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
