A detailed study attractively presented. This copy is INSCRIBED by the printer on the front endpaper: "for Frederic G. Melcher/with affection & homage/of your friend, the printer,/Richard Ellis/10th Sept. 1959." Melcher was a giant in the book industry and is particularly known for his contributions to the children's book genre, including the creation of the Newbery Medal and Caldecott Medal.
