Hardcover with slipcase box, published by Folio Society, 2008. First published in 1985, this is the first Folio Society edition. Set in 18th century France, Jean-Baptiste Grenouille is a genius perfumer, whose sense of smell gets leads to murder. This edition follws the text of the first British edition, as translated by John E. Woods. The outer slipcase is intact and has no marks or writing, all corners are intact. 235 pages, 6" X 9". Cover design by Neil Packer. Decorative map illustration on the endpapers. Illustrated cloth covered hardcover boards, with the title on the spine in red. Slight bit of rubbing wear to the gold highlights of the front cover illustration. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Edges of the text block are clean. Sewn binding is tight and square. Not a remainder, not a library discard copy. Attached are some photos of the copy we have in our inventory.
Sinopsis
Patrick Süskind was born in Ambach, near Munich, in 1949. He studied medieval and modern history at the University of Munich. His first play, The Double Bass , was written in 1980 and became an international success. It was performed in Germany, in Switzerland, at the Edinburgh Festival, in London, and at the New Theatre in Brooklyn. His first novel, Perfume became an internationally acclaimed bestseller. He is also the author of The Pigeon and Mr. Summer's Story , and a coauthor of the enormously successful German television series Kir Royal. Mr. Süskind lives and writes in Munich.
