Sobre este artículo
London, 1813. Very good condition. A handsome playbill advertising a performance of "the Historick Pantomime Drama called La Perouse; Or, the Desolate Island" along with "Isabella; Or, the Fatal Marriage".
This was a fictional play concerning the fate of the French explorer who charted Botany Bay in Australia and was shipwrecked in the Solomon Islands. In the play a crafty chimpanzee puts an end to a plot by natives against de La Perouse, and the family safely returns to France.
Actors under the heading "Europeans" include Perouse (the Navigator) by Mr. Bologna; Theodore (son of Perouse) Miss Worgman; Madame Perouse by Mrs. Pincott, the Chimpanzee (an Animal of the Desolate Island) by Master Morelli. Under "Natives of a Neighboring Island", lists Mr. Grimaldi playing Kanko (Suitor to Umba).
6 1/4 x 9 3/4". Trimmed close top edge. Not found on WorldCat.
