Sobre este artículo

New York: McGraw Publishing, July 1, 1905-Dec. 30, 1905. Thick 4to. 1156 pp. With over 2000 text illustrations, photos, photographs, diagrams, blue prints, 1 large folding table, 1 large folding colour map, the special 128 pp. Special Issue for Philadelphia Convention printed on thicker paper stoc,. Black buckram, gilt lettering on spine, renewed endpapers (first and final leaves w/ old tape repairs to fore-edges of leaves, former ownership markings on 2nd flyleaf indicating rebind in 1975), still VG- copy. First edition of the entire Vol. XXVI for this historic trade magazine for electric railways, electric utility companies, street cars, and interurban line companies in the Progressive Era. The articles expound upon the vast investments and improvements across the World as electrification encouraged much more rapid development of mass transit within cities, towns, and between urban and suburban communities. Of particular interest in these issues are the number of articles devoted to electric railway transport to the Lewis & Clark Exposition held in Portland, OR in 1905, including a section on the Westinghouse pavilion, along with the extended supplement issue for the 1905 Street Railway Convention held in Philadelphia, lavishly illustrated with map and extended photo plates. Of further interest are articles discussing the uses of electric automobiles, hybrid gas/electric automobiles, and gasoline buses ferrying passengers between various railway lines. Founded originally in 1884, the Street Railway Journal merged with the Electric Railway Review in 1908, published thereafter as the Electric Railway Journal. Early individual issues, or collected volumes have become relatively uncommon in the trade.
