Lubbock, Texas: The Baker Gallery Press, 1969. BD4 - A 2nd edition hardcover book SIGNED by Peter Hurd on the half-title page in very good condition in fair dust jacket that is mylar protected. Dust jacket has wrinkling, chipping, crease, tears and few open tears on the edges, corners and some sides, smalll scrape and open tear on the back lower right side and some on the spine, some scattered light scratches, rubbing and scuffing, light tanning and shelf wear. Book has some bumped corners, label stain on the upper right corner of the front free endpaper, light tanning and shelf wear. Introduction by Andrew Wyeth. 12.25"x9.5". Satisfaction Guaranteed. Peter Hurd was an American painter whose work is strongly associated with the people and landscapes of San Patricio, New Mexico, where he lived from the 1930s. He is equally acclaimed for his portraits and his western landscapes. Early in his life, Hurd studied in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania under the noted illustrator N.C. Wyeth, along with two of his grown children. Hurd later married the painter's eldest daughter, Henriette Wyeth, who also is known as an accomplished painter. During World War II, Hurd worked for Life magazine as a war correspondent attached to the US Air Force. He created hundreds of "War Sketches". . Signed. 2nd Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair.
