Der Autor dieses neuen Dokumentationsbandes, der das Felsbildmaterial Südost-Anatoliens erstmalig der Forschung zugänglich macht, ist zugleich der Entdecker des größten Teils der hier behandelten Fundstätten. Die Entstehung dieser Felsbilder wird auf den Anfang des Mesolithikums (10.000 bis 7.000 v. Chr.) datiert. Gegenstand der Darstellung sind am Anfang jene Tiere, mit denen es die Menschen der Steinzeit zu tun hatten. Später treten Dämonen- und Geisterbilder in Erscheinung, schließlich tritt auch der Mensch in den Vordergrund. Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede dieser Felsbilder im Vergleich mit jenen in anderen Erdteilen sind klar ersichtlich. Sie bieten interessantes Vergleichsmaterial und ermöglichen wertvolle kulturgeschichtliche Aufschlüsse und Hinweise über Einflüsse aus dem nahen Mesopotamien.
