Sobre este artículo

Printed by the Kingsport Press, Kingsport, Tennessee. This Hardcover Edition has no date. After having studied the history of the publisher, J. H. Sears & Co., I believe that absence of a date indicates mid- 1920's or earlier. This classic book is in very good to possibly excellent condition. The cover appears to be made of either leather or imitation leather, it is hard to tell. It is a lovely rich blue color, unfaded by time. The peacock patterned end papers are striking. It does not lie completely flat but has some lift. First edition for this publisher, presumed. There are no dates, editions or printings indicated. Gold leaf on the top edges of the 240 pages, which are supple and unmarked, although toned. There is a light spot on the bottom edge of the book pages and a very small light pencil line. Gilt on the top edge is not uniform. Very light bit of scuffing on edge of spine moving to cover. See photos please.

Sinopsis

Rudyard Kipling was born in Bombay in 1865. During his time at the United Services College, he began to write poetry, privately publishing Schoolboy Lyrics in 1881. The following year he started work as a journalist in India, and while there produced a body of work, stories, sketches, and poems —including “Mandalay,” “Gunga Din,” and “Danny Deever”—which made him an instant literary celebrity when he returned to England in 1889. While living in Vermont with his wife, an American, Kipling wrote The Jungle Books , Just So Stories , and Kim —which became widely regarded as his greatest long work, putting him high among the chronicles of British expansion. Kipling returned to England in 1902, but he continued to travel widely and write, though he never enjoyed the literary esteem of his early years. In 1907, he became the first British writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize. He died in 1936

Sobre Mountain & Light Books

Thanks to a chance observance of a professional bookseller at an impressionable age I developed a kind of reverence for the trade. Beginning to dabble in it myself now although I have collected my entire life. Here's hoping you find an inspiring title here!
