New York: Epstein & Carroll/Random House, 1962. First US Edition/Third Printing. Hardcover. Fair/Poor. Rebound and reinforced for the library market with pictorial cloth and spine. Corners of boards and text block rounded. Edgewear/rubbing with a few spots of rubbing through mostly to bottom corners and heel of spine. Some scuffing and tape shadows where jacket was formerly attached. Library pocket to ffep with stamps - one inked out - and one inked out to front pastedown as well. Stamps to title and dedication pages and sticker to former. Inked out stamp to rfep. Binding shaken. General soiling to endpapers, some pages and page ends. Jacket is unclipped($3.95) with chips to spine ends, corners and bottom of front panel. Tears to bottom of latter, top of rear flap and spine ends which have tape repairs. Some scuffing and marks to flap ends.

Sinopsis

The Phantom Tollbooth is a children's adventure novel and a modern fairy tale published in 1961, written by Norton Juster and illustrated by Jules Feiffer. It tells the story of a bored young boy named Milo who unexpectedly receives a magic tollbooth one afternoon and, having nothing better to do, drives through. He finds himself in the Kingdom of Wisdom. There he accepts a quest to rescue the princesses of the kingdom, acquires two faithful companions, and has many adventures.

This is one of my favorite books. It is a VERY funny and clever story about a journey through strange lands. The book is full of puns, wordplay and weirdness.
