First hardcover trade edition, with dust jacket, published by Alfred A. Knopf, 1994. Memoir of the author's experiences as an officer in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. His second memoir, after 'This Boy's Life'. Sturdy rust-red colored boards, black cloth covered spine, with the author name and title imprinted on the spine in gold, and the author's initials imprinted on the front board also in gold. Boards are flat, corners are not bumped or creased. Sewn binding is tight and square. Edges of the text block show some very light age tanning spots. Rust-red top stain does not appear to be faded, there is a slight bump to the top edge, about 1" long near the spine. Very light, small age tanning dots to the paste down pages and fly leaf pages. the dust jacket has been protected with a clear, removable cover. No tears, no rips, no rubbing wear to the jacket. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. This is not a remainder copy, not a library discard. The attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
