Blue buckram boards have title in a gold-stamped cartouche, in which there is some loss of gold. Spine is darkened with the gold stamping exceedingly faded. Pictorial endpapers with a scene of the western Himalayas. William Beebe was Director of Tropical Research for the New York Zoological Society. He spent seventeen months in Asia gathering material for a monograph on pheasants that resulted in this book as his first important scientific undertaking. His adventures covered Ceylon, Sikkim, Garhwal, Burma, Tibet, Yunnan, Pahang and Borneo. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Edition.. Buckram. Very Good/No Jacket.
