Descripción:
New York: Harry N. Abrams, Inc., Publishers, 1975. First Edition. . Hardcover. Very Good/Fair. An American painter, sculptor and printmaker particularly active during the Depression and the WWII era, Evergood 's slightly cartoonish, colorful work has been described as social realism, imaginative realism, surrealism, even sophisticated primativism. This book, published only a few years after his death in a house fire in 1972, provides a good critical analysis by John Baur and a generous sampling of Evergood's work over his career. First Printing, First Edition. 11 x 11.5 inches, 215 pages in blue cloth boards with 151 illustrations, including 51 full color plates, as well as an index, a selected bibliography and a chronology. New York, New York: Harry N. Abrams, 1975. Hardcover. VG/VG+ in original shipping carton. Dark teal cloth boards, white dj with color illustration, 151 illustrations, with 51 color plates, some tipped-in, including frontispiece. Several foldouts. From the dj: Baur combines the story of Evergood's colorful life with a critical analysis of his painting. Lavishly illustrated to show a broad and representative selection of Evergood's work. Conventional labels are inadequate for describing his work - the uninhibited imagination, vitality, and original way of seeing things that are revealed in his paintings are strongly individual.
