This is an antique book hand-printed by the Roycrofters, the celebrated arts and crafts community of East Aurora, NY. The Philistine ran from 1895-1915 and was largely a journal of satire, progressive political essays, and short literary works. Hubbard said the magazine was bound in butcher paper because "There is meat inside."
