Sobre este artículo

[East Aurora, New York]: The Roycrofters, 1916. Elbert Hubbard (1856-1915) was inspired by William Morris to found the Roycrofters [in 1895] as an American branch of the Arts & Crafts movement; the shop survived until 1938. Here are nineteen essays, detailing his thoughts on a variety of subjects. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition, which was LIMITED to 9983 signed copies, SIGNED by his first child, Elbert Hubbard II. Hubbard had died in 1915 in the sinking of the "Lusitania" so this was probably intended as a memorial. Tan woven cloth binding with titling, ruling, and a decoration in brown on the front cover. Frontis portait of Hubbard, 175 pages of handmade stiff laid paper; each page ruled in blue; with a ribbon marker. The top-edge is gilt, with the others rough-cut. A previous owner has written his name, address, and the notation that it was bought in 1935. There is also a blue name-stamp which has been continued throughout the book, as well as neat red underlining on 21 pages. Without that interference, this would be graded as "Near Fine." Quercus notes that although this is an unfortunate practice, it does not really affect the quality of the book.. Limited. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
