Beautiful, burgundy imitation leather-bound volume in the Harvard Classics series. This volume is absolutely pristine.

Cousin (1792-1867) was a prolific French philosopher and educator who promoted views on what he called "Eclecticism." For a time his ideas were embraced by the New England transcendentalists. Apparently this book was produced in 31 editions over 90 years.
